The Best Pasta Alternatives

And if you think a good enough pasta alternative is spaghetti squash, you can go ahead and click out of this post because 1. it tastes nothing like pasta and 2. it tastes nothing like pasta.

However, I have found a few alternatives that actually DO taste like pasta and are delicious and basically guilt free. Are they carb free? No, of course not, but they have way more fiber which means you can deduct 10 calories per gram of fiber. (No seriously it's true. I know this because, well...my friend told me, but I swear she knows what she's talking about because she read some book or something. Just trust me, ok?)

So below are my favorites made from different legumes (in different pasta shapes too *does small dance*)

Chickpeas:

Edamame:

Lentils:

My honest opinion is that the chickpea pasta and the red lentil pasta are the closest you'll find to actual pasta. I actually can't tell a difference with the chickpea pasta and the red lentil is pretty effing close too.

The edamame pasta is a bit drier than real pasta but a real close second.

So one night a week, Alex and I incorporate one of these guys into our meals. I can't be eating lean protein and veggies every single night or I may die of boredom, ya heard?
