Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream

Guys, that's just a fancy way of saying "moisturizer"

But alas, I ran out of a face cream needed to purchase another one.

(FWIW I typically avoid face creams that have an SPF because I think it's useless to have an SPF in your face cream. You technically have to use 1/4 of a teaspoon of SPF to make it effective so I like to use a physical SPF on top of my moisturizer and whatever base I'm using that day. Plus I want a cream I can use day and night if I feel like it.)

I've been a big fan of Shiseido for a while (yay Japanese skincare) but they include perfumes in their creams and I'm trying to do away with that.

I'd read great reviews about the Drunk Elephant brand and experienced first hand how amazing their Sukari Babyfacial mask is:

But I'm cheap in the weirdest ways (like, I'll spend serious money on bags and shoes but I rarely spend over $100 on any skincare product even though I'm obsessed with skincare and finding the best products. I don't know, guys) and just couldn't bring myself to spend $80 on this mask. I used and loved my deluxe sample but haven't really thought about Drunk Elephant until I started doing research for a new moisturizer.

Here are some of my stipulations:

  • Wasn't scented (my current Shiseido Benefiance Wrinkle Resist is. Smells awesome but scented products add unnecessary ingredients to your skin)

  • Has a pump top instead of an open jar (more sanitary)

  • Is very hydrating for my dry skin

  • Isn't over $100

I was doing my research and saw Drunk Elephant had this Protini Polypeptide Moisturizer for $68 AND I got it for 15% off in the Sephora VIB sale. Oh also, it's 1.69 oz which is a good amount of product.

I received it and held tight to that receipt cause you know that it is going back immediately if I don't like it and whaddya know.

It's awesome.

The consistency is a bit gel-like, which I like because gel formulas tend to absorb more quickly, but it's heavy enough to actually plump my skin and keep it plumped throughout the day. And it wears great under makeup.

It has a pump top, so no dipping into a jar. Check. But you can also open the top to scrape out the very last bits because your girl was raised by an asian mother and we don't waste product. Check.

It has no scent, check.

And it has all these science-y claims which I will let you peruse below:

It's basically all I'd ever want in a moisturizer.

Have you tried Drunk Elephant products? Which ones should I be getting samples of the next time I'm at Sephora?
