On the Hunt: Neutral Bag

I mean, the title of this post is pretty self explanatory; I'm looking for my next neutral bag.

Stipulations:

1. Must be high quality. When it comes to my accessories, I prefer quality over quantity. Because of this, I usually only have 1 (rarely 2, but sometimes) piece per category: sunnies, small black throw on and go bag, small evening bag, work bag, neutral bag, black over the knee boots, black booties, black stiletto, neutral platform sandals, neutral flats, etc.

2. Size-wise, I want it to be on the mini-bag side but needs to fit at least an Iphone6 plus. If it can't fit a phone, it's too small and worth nothing to me. It needs to actually have a use of carrying things (and if you think there is a bag out there that does not fit an iphone6 Plus you are wrong, because this YSL Mini Blogger Bag fits approximately 1 MAC lipgloss, 1 OB Tampon, 1 breath of air and 2 tic tacs. Peep it HERE)

3. A neutral tone; not a brown, not a gray. A neutral.

4. A bag whose strap is a length I can also wear both cross body and on my shoulder.

5. Must have a high resale value. I get over bags pretty quickly and because I have so few, I like to switch out my bags every so often. I hate clutter so I consign bags I no longer use. Because of this, I need to buy a bag that holds it's value on the resale market.

So here are some that I've been eyeing lately. I've included ones I like, am on the fence about and ones I really dislike so I can talk shit about them and tell you why I don't like them.

Starting from top row, left to right:

Gucci Mini Dionysus: It's actually not that mini (see pic below for reference)

But I worry, is it too much of an It Bag? It's allllll over dem blogs and am I gonna be over it in like two seasons? I know Gucci holds it's value well, so I could always sell it which I've done previously, with success. But I dunno. It is so asian of me to get into a logo bag...again?

Chloe Drew: Cute, right? But Chloe just does not hold it's value well when it comes to reselling. I also don't love suede, especially light colored suede because of potential color transfer from whatever jean I happen to be wearing. Also, that light colored suede is bound to get nicked and show wear really easily. So, I'm gonna go with a no on this one.

YSL Kate: Ok again with me being picky but I LOATHE the YSL Logo. I think it looks messy and not modern and basically? It goes against everything I like. It's like they worked really hard on trying to get a new logo together and then scrapped it at the last minute and were like, "How about if we just shove all the letters together?" and Hedi Slimane was like, "Fuck it, fine." And that's just the logo. I don't like the quilting, I think it's really matronly and although I think the envelope style is cool, I just don't think this is a cool bag. So, no.

Chloe Faye in small: Ok so I really like the shape and hardware. Like, *really* like it. But again with the low resale value and again with the suede. And the suede at the top? I just don't trust myself to not I will ruin it after two wears (Oooo, maybe a suede protector, though.) But I keep going back to this one 😩

Can't find original poster!

Chanel 2.55 Quilted Double Flap in Beige: I included this one because it's such an obvious choice, given my lust for all things luxe. But I just can't get on board with this color on this style bag. To me it screams Ladies Who Lunch and say shit like, "Oh didn't I tell you? My Preston got into Harvard! All we had to do was donate a new library." You know exactly what I mean. And I am just not into that style. I would much rather wear boyfriend jeans than a dress; a moto boot > a ballet flat. And while I love the black 2.55 and I own a black quilted mini, for whatever reason I cannot get on board with this color in this style.

(Like, could you ever see me wearing that outfit? ☝🏼 I honestly wouldn't be caught dead. And not because it's not stylish, it's just because it's so the opposite of my taste and style. Also, if Alex ever wore a bowtie and Sperry's? I'd leave him.)

Givenchy Mini Horizon: I included this because it's such a different shape than the others. But I find this bag overly complicated (How does it open? Why are there straps on the side? Why are there those smaller straps within the big strap?) and way too structured for an everyday, throw on and go bag. The Givenchy Antigona I'm totally over too because of those exact reasons. Neither bag looks effortless and I'm just not into it. (Although that outfit sans the bag is fire, right? 👇🏼👌🏼)

Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Double Compartment mini: Ok so NOW we're talking. I love that there's no logos, it's clean, it's simple and because it's Bottega, the quality is obviously excellent. I also love the color of the chain. It's not obtrusive like that bright yellow gold chain on that YSL up there (ick) and very different than the Chanel leather woven chain; it's just so understated. One of my besties has this bag (but in another color) and it's le dopest. It's not an It Bag, it's value will last and it is so easy to wear. But...is the strap too long? As you know I'm super short and there's no way to shorten the strap. WHY, GOD *shakes fist at heavens*

Loewe Small Puzzle Bag: Ok so ANOTHER one that I love so much but I'm not sure about! I wrote a blog post about it a couple months back but now that I'm thinking about it, is it too big? I love how unique it is and how many different ways you can wear it (Ps: peep the blog post and how many different ways you can wear this bag HERE) but for real. It may be too big for what I need. But it does check the boxes off for effortless and unique, that's fo damn sho.

And lastly, the Gucci soho: Trendy. Just so, so trendy *shakes head* But also, affordable-ish for a designer bag (it's under 1K). But like, how bored of this am I gonna get? I honestly feel like I'm already bored of it. Wait. Yeah. I'm over it. It's just so, I'M WEARING GUCCI 👋🏼 👋🏼 LOOK AT HOW BIG THE LOGO IS 👋🏼 👋🏼 So I guess no go on this one, either.

And even going through all of this, I guess I still need to look around. Ugh guys. What's it like to not be in your head so much you want to punch yourself in your own face?
