For the past couple months I've been trying out the Beach Body Guide by Kayle Itsines. (If you haven't heard it of, you most likely don't have an instagram account, are a boy, or don't follow any fashion or beauty bloggers because it's EVERYWHERE on instagram). It's a 12 week program where you work out 6 days a week for 28 minutes every day. Half of the training is strength, the other half is either sprints for 15 minutes or a fast walk with inclines for 30 minutes. (I mean, I THINK, you guys. I didn't read the whole guide, I just skimmed it and started the workouts.)

So, the work outs were great: intense, I felt that great soreness the next day and the workouts, being 28 minutes, flew by, which is great for me because I get bored easily and I cannot do more than 30 minutes at the gym. I have places to go and people to see, jaknowhaimean. Oh and also I am not strong enough nor do I have enough endurance to do a full hour of anything and I'm too scared to take hour long classes, other than yoga. So there's that, too.

So anyway, I was doing some googling last night, knowing I wanted to go to the gym this morning, but really dreading doing the Beach Body Guide because I've become bored of it. So I got on the interwebz and googled "Best Free Workout App" because I'm cheap. And found the highly rated Nike + App.

I tried it out today and I love it.

Here are some screen caps of what it looks like:

You can ask them to create a plan for you based on what you want to achieve: leaner muscles, weight loss, endurance, strength, etc. And then you follow the plan they give you which includes recovery days (see below). You can tell the app if you have equipment or if you don't, so they cater a workout depending on what you have available:

You can choose workouts based on muscle group or workout type:

They also have featured workouts and top picks based on what workouts you've done previously:

And when you're ready to workout, a person works out with you, guides you, give you tips on your form, counts, etc:

Can you believe this is free? I mean it's Nike so it's obviously one big ad for Nike products but I used it this morning and I gotta say: it was a really good workout. I'm excited to try others and mix in shorter workouts along with my recovery days.

And if you guys already know about this, uh I have a bone to pick with you because YOU SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME.

Ok now your turn. What workout apps do you guys use? And which ones I should stay away from?
