The Best Ones: Proteins Bars

I don't know if I've mentioned this on le blog before but I'm going back to school to work towards my Masters, which means I go straight from work to class once a week. Which also means I can't really eat a full dinner once a week, which pisses me off to no end because I really like to eat food.

So I've been experimenting and trying out different protein bars that I can eat in my car on the go. And let me tell you. All protein bars are not made equal. Some of them are effing awful and I truly can't believe people can choke them down. And then some of them are delicious. I'm going to tell you about two of my favorites. One for those of you who prefer to only eat whole foods and those that don't really care.

So that's what this post is about, y'all. Bars.

So my favorite tasting (and is not made of only whole foods) is the Fiber One Caramel Nut Protein Bar. I love that is has 6 grams of fiber, which means it keeps me full for a long time. I eat these before school but also as a dessert because I actually think it's delicious. Now, if you are the type of person that eats full candy bars, you probably won't think this measures up. But as I do not eat full candy bars and I limit my sugar intake, this is absolutely perfect. To be, it just tastes like a candy bar, it's just not as sweet.

Another yummy one (with less chemically ingredients that again, might be important to you) is Kind Bar Crunchy Peanut Butter. It also has 5 grams of fiber, so again, super filling.

The Kind bar is 110 calories more than the Fiber One bar so it's gonna fill you up more than the Fiber One bar. I mean, that's like science. I don't eat the Kind bar for desserts 'cause I'd treat the Kind bar as more of a meal replacement given it's 250 calories.

Something I pay attention to on any and all protein bars is the amount of fiber, carbs and sugar (calories are less important to me/FFactor diet which is how I eat). I personally like to stay around 12-15 grams of carbs per bar and I'm ok with single digit grams of sugar. Any bar I eat should be more than 5 grams of fiber or else it's just not going to fill me up and keep me full. This isn't the science of FFactor, it's just my preference. And I pay close attention because some of the bars out there that you think are so good for you are so bad. There's an RX Bar that is 13 grams of sugar and 24 carbs. A Clif bar that has 40+ grams of carbs. No thanks, man.

So anyway, the point of this post to tell you I've found TWO really delicious bars that satisfy my cravings for something sweet that I don't feel guilty about eating.

Any bars you've tried that you swear by?? TELL ME.
