The Diet Cracker

Ok so first and foremost, the title of this post is kind of deceiving because 1. I don't diet but rather I regulate what I eat and then I have cheat days. I basically don't eat shit food (processed carbs, sugar, fried anything, etc) during the week and then I'll eat whatever I want on the weekends. I used to literally go balls to the wall but I'm a bit better now. As in, not every meal on the weekend is pizza and pasta. But like, most of them are.
That said, I recently found out about these crackers from a blogger I like, Lauryn Evarts (peep her glorious blog HERE). She sneaks them into restaurants and while this makes me feel some type of way, I commend her on her commitment to not being a fatass. So, I found 'em on amazon prime and bought 'em.
They arrived and I tried them and I immediately was like, "Well, these are going in the trash."
You guys. They straight up taste like cardboard. There is salt in the ingredients but I was like, Uh, where is it and what's the point of adding it because they taste like shit.
But take a look at the nutrition label for one cracker. #ThatFiberTho:

So, I brought them home and Alex was like, "Oh yeah, I've had these before in a fancy Scandinavian breakfast in Singapore" (vom right, how pretentious does that sound) but he's right because this is what the Scandies eat.
He urged me to try them with different toppings.
1. Turkey, cheese and dijon mustard
2. Almond Butter or peanut butter
3. Turkey pepperoni and cheese
And I realized that as long as you have a strong flavor to top it off it, the taste and texture gets more palatable and it just adds a crunch. But the best part; I was straight up full after eating 3 crackers with various toppings. Let me repeat that. THREE CRACKERS MADE ME FULL. Because there is so much fiber in them and they're so dense, it's an actual snack can fill you up. Which for me at least, is unheard of. I never get full off of snacks. I honestly think I could easily polish off an entire bag of chips and be like, Ok what's next. Snacks just never satisfy me. But these crackers do.
So anyway, point is: once you figure out the most palatable way for you to eat these, you will continue to do so. Not because the actual cracker tastes good but because when eating with a yummy topping, they really fill you up.
However, what I will not be eating them with are like, eggs or avocado. The taste of both of those toppings just isn't strong enough. But some lox, a little cream cheese, capers and a squeeze of lemon? Hell yea.
BEHOLD. My breakfast. And it was so so good.
