Which means Happy Birthday to me 'cause it was recently my birthday which means, presents!

But not in the way you may think. Many youtubers or bloggers, regardless of their age, create posts or videos about the gifts they received on their birthday. And frankly, I find this incredibly gauche. Like, ARE you an 8 year old showing off your my little ponies but instead it's your new Louis Vuitton purse? 'Cause that's just so weird to me. Like, ok. If you bought it with your own money, cool that's totally something to be proud of: you earned it. But showing off an expensive gift your spouse or even worse, your parents gave you, is just plain tacky.

And truth be told, the gifts I receive are usually money or an experience; a yummy dinner or a weekend away, for example. And let's be serious. I'm one million years old which means if I really want something I usually just buy it for myself. So that said, I've been on a shopping diet recently but my birthday is a perfect excuse to binge. A little. Nothing insane, I'm not designer purse-ing it this year, so like, under $500 bucks.

My stipulations:

  • I want to spend the money on one splurge-y item, rather than multiple things. I feel like I'll just treasure it more. Like Golem and The Ring. Was it Cartier or something? 'Cause I totally felt him and understood.

  • It should be something I can wear often, so I'm not gonna get an article of clothing because I can only wear it so often without looking like I don't own anything else. (and PS, I'd never spend $500 bucks on an article of clothing that isn't outerwear)

  • Goes with everything. Ie, is most likely going to be black or a neutral color

  • Seasonally appropriate, so something for fall/winter because obviously I want to wear it immediately.

  • Good quality that will last. Always.

Here's what I'm thinking:

Celine Catherine Sunnies (I love the not-so-extreme cat eye shape and the gradient of the acetate):

Iro Portella Bootie (the conical heel makes this bootie so unique):

This insanely well priced Belstaff military coat with leather details on therealreal.com:

This cute ass faux fur bomber by Elizabeth and James (that fine, is over $500 but not by that much):

This camel cocoon coat:

What do you vote for?
