Office Holiday Party: WTF to Wear

One of the more difficult decisions, right? Like, you wanna look awesome but you work with these people so you don't wanna look too sexy, because hello, it's work and you gotta keep it somewhat professional. You want to look fancy but you don't exactly know HOW fancy you should be. And uh hi, "Holiday Chic" is just not a dress code.

So, the following is a bunch of my own opinions on what works for office holiday parties and what doesn't. Again, it's my opinion, I'm not saying my word is the end all be all, you know?

1. Sparkles and glitter and sequins are totally ok in my book. I love this shape:

And this one is good too:

(Except those shoes actually make me want to die.)

But, because they're short dresses, I'd probably wear them with stockings or tights. I personally am not comfortable showing a lot of skin to begin with but showing it at work is like, my worst nightmare.

2. Watch it with the cleavage; make sure it's tasteful. I don't need to see someone knockers bouncing in my face while they "I love you, man" all over me and and everyone else at the party.

Tasteful (although I'm not into the dress itself)

No:

And absolutely not:

I mean basically if you have huge boobs, don't show them. If you have no boobs, you can get away with a more low cut dress. I mean, call me a prude but I just think it's classier (and way more office appropriate) to cover those puppies up.

You can never go wrong with a fancier black jumpsuit, either:

I'd pair that one with a cropped faux fur jacket. I like that the pant is cropped and the sweetheart neckline gives this a dressier vibe.

I do love a wide leg, too:

But my preference is that the pant bottom actually skim the floor, rather than show the shoe.

Most of us can never go wrong with an A-line party dress. The A line makes the waist look smaller, that's just a fact. I love the cutouts on this one and the ruffle detail is also so chic:

Or you can do for a midi length with a different texture, like lace. I think it's a super unique shape and I love playing with textures when dressing up:

So, let's be serious. Not all of these looks are going to work on every body type but hopefully I've given you some ideas of what shapes and textures might work for an office holiday party.

Do you have your outfit picked out yet? What are you wearing??
