On My Mind: Sunnies

A friend of mine requested I do a blog post about sunglasses so here we go!
First and foremost, I am not a collector of "stuff". If you've been following le blog, you know that I return/give away anything that I don't absolutely love and don't use regularly. I can't handle clutter and I don't have a ton of room to store stuff in my house so I have to be really strategic about the things I buy. Because of this, I only wear a couple/few pairs of sunnies at a time.
So for example, right now, I'm really feeling the two pairs I switch between, depending on mood:
My Saint Laurent sunnies that I snagged off of theoutnet.com for like, 120 bucks. These are the same shape but mine are a cool toned tortoiseshell that I can't find online anymore :(
I love a flat top sunnie. Even though the oversized flat top look isn't super trendy right now given the trend is itty bitty small frames (which I CAN'T STAND) I don't think I'll ever abandon this oversized look. They are glam, edgy and cover my face enough so that they're actually providing some sort of sun protection.
I'm wearing the Saint Laurents in these IG photos:

I used to wear my Ray Ban gold framed aviators every chance I could but unfortunately, my skin is so sensitive that whenever I would wear them and I broke even the slightest sweat, my skin would react really negatively. The metal mixed with sweat on my skin would break me out. (Told you I have sensitive skin.)
So I had to abandon those but find a pair of sunnies that were small enough to fit under a baseball hat (#AllTheSunProtection) but were still cute.
I came across these round frame Celines at Saks Off Fifth. I think I paid around 130 for them. I've found them online for you for $199.00:

I'm wearing the round frames here:

The round frames work on face shapes that are smaller and oval shaped. If you have a larger face with a more square jaw, that flat top sunnie shape would look awesome rather than a smaller, round frame.
Another pair I've had my eye on is the Celine Catherine in Havana Blue. It's a cat eye shape, but one that's not too severe or exaggerated, which doesn't work on my face shape (or my taste).
The blue acetate and gradient lens plus the unique shape just have me totally drooling, man.
Another look I'm really feeling lately is clear plastic frames. I've been seeing them all over the place but after seeing them on one of my favorite bloggers, Hedvig Opshaug, they really sealed the deal for me.
I actually saw a pair of clear plastic frames at Target that I'm kicking myself for not grabbing:
And the last trend I'm really liking is the full mirrored, flat lens aviator. Unfortunately I'm afraid I'll run into the same situation as my Ray Bans, where they irritate my skin so I can't wear them. However, those of you who CAN rock this look, I totally think you should. On another one of my favorite bloggers:
Quay Australia has some really great mirrored sunnies:
And at $65, they're not breaking the bank. They also have gold and rose gold mirrored.
S'cute, right??
So you might be asking why I have to be so extra and do I think I'm too good for cheapie sunnies. No, of course not! However, I've realized in my wise old age that I just take better care of my stuff if I spend more money on it. I cannot tell you many pairs of cheap sunglasses I have lost or broken shortly after I get them and I just shrugged and got a new pair. I've done that so many times in my life that I could have spent that money on a good pair of well made sunglasses that lasted. So I switched up my sunglass strategy and started hunting online for deals for more expensive and better quality sunnies (I have never and will never pay retail for designer sunglasses. $450 bucks for a pair of sunglasses? Absolutely not) and I am able to find Ray Ban prices for Celine and Saint Laurent.
So where do you buy your sunnies? Any trends I'm missing or that I need to get on board with?
