The Loewe Gate Bag

I recently have been on the look out for a warm toned bag, something in in camel or brown tones. Because I wear so much black, it's rare that I need to wear a brown bag (and frankly, I think a black bag can look cool with brown tones if done properly) but I'm feeling like warming up my wardrobe this fall and to include more brown accessories.

With that said, I've been really loving the shape of a saddle bag. And then when I saw the Loewe (pronounced loo-EH-veh) Gate Bag, I immediately upped my direct deposit from my paycheck into my savings account and have my sights set this on this bad boy:

At $1,890, she's not cheap. But the shape is so classic yet the knotted leather is so distinctive, I don't see this going out of style anytime soon. I mean it is just so throw on and go chic I could cry. I especially love the ease with which you can get into the purse (the flap slides behind the knotted leather), the size is perfect, the quality is unreal and it's grained leather so it's durable. Somehow Loewe's Creative Director, Jonathan Anderson (who has his own line, JW Anderson, but ironically, I don't like the bags at all) found a way to design something unique but also timeless. I'm totally and completely in love. But alas, I gotta save up for it so I can't get it now. Good news is that the longer I wait, the longer it has to be bought and sold on the second hand market.

That said, there are so many other saddle bags out there on the market so if you're into the shape and look but not the price, I got you:

I mean hello, this one is so great and it's $39:

More expensive at $395 but this See by Chloe is a great option:

This one from Banana is beautiful and $139:

This random one I found on Prime that is so classic and could not be more 70's. This one is $79, and real leather. I feel like this is the type of leather that gets better as it ages, no??

And then this Mansur Gavriel at $695 is a really sleek, modern take to the saddle bag. I especially like the clasp:

So tell me- do you already have a saddle bag in your wardrobe? How do you wear it??
