If you are half of a friend (ie you like, sorta follow me on social media) you will probably know that I am obsessed with skin care. Like, I research skin care for fun, obsessed. Because I’m half Asian, I realize I’m starting out with some good genes in that Asians age more slowly because of more melanin, but I smoked for over 15 years (so gross right, but also yay me for quitting) so I was very very cognizant about what my skin would look like if I didn’t take care of it as a smoker.

Here’s what my face looks like with makeup in bomb ass lighting (sorry for the I'm in my office selfie):

(what up Forever21 ripped oversized jean jacket)

Here's what my face looks like in shitty lighting with no makeup:

(that hand placement tho! Heart eye emojis, amirite. Also…my brows are tinted. BY ME. Using moustache and beard dye.)

So that's what I'm working with.

And here’s what’s up every night:

  1. Take that makeup off. These are the best and most effective wipes (trust, there is a difference in good and bad wipes.)

  2. Wash your face, ffs. Taking off your makeup is not the same as washing your face (UNLESS, you are drunk.) I prefer a gentle wash because I have super sensi skin. I also don’t believe in $$$ face washes because they stay on your face for like a minute. (Actually I heard that from Lisa Eldridge who is 11 praise hands emojis and I love her. Aside from that she’s a celebrity makeup artist and also the Creative Director of Lancome)

  3. Essence is a must. Ish opens up your pores after you wash your face to really let all that good skincare in plus☝🏼, there’s other good anti aging stuff in there. SKII really cornered the market on essence back in the day but now, there are SO many versions available at a much better price. I’ve used this Misscha one for years and it’s exactly the same IMO.

  4. SERUM OMG PLEASE USE A SERUM. (I have dry, sensitive skin and FWIW, I don’t re-purchase the same serum over and over again, I like to switch it up. I have a theory that skin reacting to various ingredients can tend to plateau and get used to the active ingredients). This is my most recently used up one.

  5. Eye cream: This one is really thick and I use it day and night. I need something that doesn't make my under eyes and crows feet look like paper during the day. This one I will always re-purchase.

  6. Oilssssssssuh (Oils) Once the serum has been absorbed, three drops of an oil for added moisture should be gently patted into the skin. You may want to skip if you have an oily skin type, though. Dis one is gewd and not a million dollars

  7. Moisturizer, because duh. I love overnight sleeping masks. This one is amazing for very dry skin. For regular skin types, or people with dry skin but need less moisture than in the winter, I like this guy. Also another good friend.

  8. Last but not least, my secret that I’m only telling YOU (except I’ve also told all of my other friends/people who will listen/people with ears); Self tanner for your face (every other night/every three nights) Everyone looks better with a tan and you know it. By far the most realistic/non smelly/non streak-y one I’ve tried here.

So tell me, because I’m always looking for new product recs. What are you using and where can I buy it?
