Man, this Bomb Cyclone is really giving me good topics to talk about on le blog; first down jackets, then moon boots and now the best lip balms. And why? Because it's been colder than the the surface of Mars outside and my lips are refusing to retain moisture.

Now, a while back I wrote a post about the magic of Bag Balm. (Peep it HERE) And I still stand by what I said, it is GOOD. But, if you're like me, sometimes you might want to switch things up and maybe not whip out a giant tub (or mini tub) of Bag Balm when you're out at dinner and drinks. Or maybe you don't have a huge handbag and want something a little sleeker. And ok shoot me, but I cannot resist good, expensive packaging. I will totally buy a product solely because of the packaging (I mean, I'll return it if I don't like the actual product but the packaging will always suck me in.)

So that said, I find myself to be something of a connoisseur of lip balms and I'm here to share my wisdom and vast experience with you.

Here we go-

So, this first one is on the pricey side (fine, it's $50 bucks) but honestly it's INCREDIBLE: Cle De Peau's Lip Treatment balm. The packaging is so luxurious (seriously it's like the heaviest, sleekest bullet of a lip product I've ever seen and felt) and the balm itself is incredibly healing. I mean it better be, for 50 bucks. I was in Seattle years ago over the holidays with super chapped lips and nothing did the trick. I went into Nordstrom begging the sales associate to give me whatever would help me with my painful and chapped lips. He showed me this lip balm and I bought it, crossing my fingers it wouldn't work so I could return it because it is effing MENTAL to spend 50 bucks on a chapstick...but it worked. Like, it worked *wonders*. I have yet to purchase it again because the price point is so painful but if you're looking to treat yourself to an insanely good product, try this:

A more affordable (it's 26 bucks) but still expensive for a lip balm is this Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask. It was made to wear overnight as a true lip mask. It's has a SUPER thick consistency but I personally love that feeling so I wear it during the day, too. When I do wear it at night, I wake up the next morning and I actually still feel product on my lips. It's kind of amazing. I really like that all of Bite Beauty's products are made with food grade ingredients (no lanolin, or petroleum, no crap) So if that's important to you, I would deffo check this brand out. The only thing I don't like about this is that when you're out and about, and can't wash your hands before applying, I just feel like it's a little germ-tastic, n'est ce pas?

This Dr. Haushka Lip Balm is another one I love. The product is fantastic and the scent is so pleasant and light. Also another one that really heals, and quickly. But at $15 bucks a pop, I feel like I deserve better packaging than a plastic tube, right?

Another great one from a brand I love, Laneige (a korean beauty brand) is this lip sleeping mask. Same idea as the Agave Lip Mask in that's it's designed to be worn overnight so you wake up with soft, plump lips. It's very smooth and tastes a bit fruity (which truth be told, isn't my favorite) and it's very shiny, which is cool because then I can wear it during the day over a lip stain or a nude lip pencil, as well as overnight. It's 23 bucks on prime (although I swear I bought mine for 16 bucks on prime), which, again for a balm, is a bit steep BUT you get SO much product, .64 oz to be exact, which is way more than the aforementioned balms. (The Cle de Peau is .14 oz, Dr. Hauskha is .17 oz, and Agave lip mask is .52 oz.)

I love this next one specifically because of the scent and it also has incredibly chic packaging. The feel of it is my perfect balm: thick, smooth and uber shiny so it totally plumps your lips without the tingling and sometimes painful, effect. This is the Dior Creme de Rose Smoothing Balm. It feels very similar to the Laneige one above but I find the rose scent to be so much more elegant then the Laneige one, which errs more on the side of lip smackers. But if you don't care and actually like fruity balms, go with the Laneige. I again, don't love the tub on the Dior, but whatever.

Have you tried any of these or are there others ones out there that I should be loving??
