So I have definitely mentioned these peel pads in a post before but I feel like I needed to dedicate a short blog post specifically to these little wonders.
I started using these peel pads a few months ago but had to abruptly stop because my skin *freaked* out and I developed a case of dermatitis. (I was using a retinol product that I'm pretty sure was the culprit). This meant I had to relax on all my anti-aging, brightening and exfoliating skincare products. Which of course, was super boring and also I could like, FEEL myself aging, you know? So thankfully the dermatitis has cleared up and I'm back on track so I wanted to start up the peel pads again.
And I am so glad I did.
So first, let me tell you what they actually are. It's a one time use packet that contains two moistened towelettes. You take the Step 1 and wipe it over your face (upwards motions, always), neck and décolleté (and if it's not already obvious, avoid the eye area completely). And I even use some on the back of my hands because wrinkly, old, sun spotted hands...yeah, no thanks.
Then you wait for it to dry for a couple of minutes and go in with the second towelette.
The first wipe contains the actual peel ingredients. The second is basically like a treatment serum.
And you guys. Done the night before, I wake up to the smoothest, glowiest skin. But, since I have dry skin, I make to sure to add an extra layer or two of moisture after I do the peel. I have a random hyaluronic acid serum I use on nights I do this peel and I also add a couple more drops of rosehip oil to my regimen. But I don't use my Vitamin C serum because I don't want to go overboard on the acids.
Now, here's the kicker. They're not cheap. For 35 towelettes, it's 88 bucks. That's like going through a serum every month (my serums last me months, PLURAL) and not everyone can afford that. So my best, Liz, who was with me while I bought these, had the genius idea of just cutting them in half. So I tried it and it worked. Now I cut them in half, save them and wrap them tightly in the packaging and I am able to use one packet twice, which doubles the usage. So smart, right? #ThanksLiz
Also another thing I should mention: I have dry, sensitive skin so although these say they are a "Daily Peel" I would not recommend using them everyday if you have similar skin to mine. I use these probably 2-3 times a week.
However, I just saw on Sephora that they now make them for sensitive skin. So if you want to try these but have sensitive skin, I suggest you start with these first:
Since I started with the regular strength, I'll hopefully be able to build up a tolerance and move on to the Extra Strength Peel:
Oh also! If you're into podcasts, check out this Skinny Confidential podcast with Dr. Dennis Gross, HERE. They talk all about what ingredients you absolutely need for your skin and why.
So tell me, have you guys used any of these peels before? Any others out there that you recommend?
